I go through at least two of these every summer as the aluminum gear strips. This crank would be much better if the gear was made out of steel instead of aluminum like it is now. I would even pay more money for a steel version of this product!

Tim,
We are sorry that you have had trouble with your crank handles. The gear is actually made from steel and we\'ve recently gone to a hardened stock to further strengthen it. Stripping teeth from the handle is a symptom of a larger problem such as damaged rack gears or more commonly, the torsion bar system. If set wrong, the torsion system will actually work against you rather than assist you.
Please give us a call so we can help you diagnose and resolve the problems you are having. 800-232-2079
